Removing S-B-S Sealer from a tabletop

Below is a video we created to give you an idea of what it looks like to remove Aldon S-B-S Sealer using lacquer thinner .

This is a very simple and easy process.

The video is a large file. Please allow a minute for it to download as you read the notes. The video will repeat automatically so you can see each feature.

Notes: These tips apply ONLY to Aldon S-B-S Sealer and not to any other sealer including those sold by a furniture manufacturer under their label (called a "Private Label"). "Private Label" sealers usually vary in sourcing from time to time and therefore, can vary importantly in quality and type. This creates the risk of incompatability from can to can even though the label looks the same.

  • Pour on lacquer thinner in any size puddle that is comfortable.

  • Allow "dwell time" for lacquer thinner to melt sealer, but not so long as to dry.

  • Use the lacquer thinner saturated cloth to do the edges.

  • Wipe up residue and repeat as necessary until the uniform lack of glossy patches indicates the sealer is gone.

Video does not play?
At 2016/2017 there is a known issue with the Internet Explorer 11 browser not properly playing "animated gifs" such as this video. Animated gifs do not require any special program to play them, this is only a Microsoft issue. Animated gif videos play just fine with Firefox, Google Chrome, and other browsers.
